Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for the pilot system
   • Establish and confirm the objectives, success criteria and acceptance criteria, for pilot implementation
   • Identify and secure, the technical and organisational resources required for pilot implementation
   • Establish and confirm executive support for the pilot
   • Complete the project plan for the pilot, and refer the project documentation to the appropriate person for their approval
2. Install the pilot system
   • Install and configure pilot according to the project plan
   • Verify and record the technical readiness of the pilot
   • Take the necessary actions to determine accuracy of the data
   • Prepare a status report, and submit to the appropriate person for their sign-off
3. Test the pilot system
   • Work with stakeholders to identify and release the appropriate pilot group
   • Brief the pilot-team members on the objectives of the test
   • Train the pilot-team members in the new system
   • Run the test
4. Evaluate the results and feedback of the pilot
   • Assess computerised results of the pilot test
   • Interview pilot group members in order to obtain feedback
   • Document the feedback and results
   • Evaluate according to success, and the acceptance criteria previously established
   • Report the final recommendations from the pilot, with regard to a complete installation of the pilot system, to the appropriate person

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

establish objectives, acceptance criteria and resource requirements for implementation of a pilot system

prepare a project plan for a pilot system, according to organisational requirements

install and verify a pilot system

test a pilot system with the pilot team

evaluate the results and feedback on a pilot

report on the outcomes of a pilot system.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

identify the role of stakeholders, and the degree of stakeholder involvement in the development of a pilot system

explain three or more current industry information-gathering methodologies

describe current industry system development and design methodologies

describe current industry-accepted hardware and software products, providing an overview of general features and capabilities, and in-depth details of installing pilot systems

describe the general features and capabilities of current industry-accepted system piloting methodologies

outline quality assurance practices with regard to installing, testing and evaluating a system.
